In 1992, Jeffrey L. Olyan saw a need. The successful entrepreneur saw that the U.S. and Canada needed a commercial real estate firm that was built on the following investment principles:
Acquire well located, anchored shopping centers with below market rental rates due
to some vacancies.
Manage each property in the most cost-efficient manner as to maximizes net rental income.
Capitalize on long term leases and retailers offering basic consumer necessities and
amenities in order to insulate portfolio investments during economic downturns.
Expand the company’s portfolio by purchasing additional properties that offer the future
growth in cash flow.
To fill this need in the market place, Retail Plazas, Inc. was born.
Today the company manages 12 properties across Texas plus its newest acquisition in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Jeffrey L. Olyan
Prior to founding Retail Plazas, Inc. (RPI) in 1992, Jeff Olyan attended the University of Toronto for two years and was accepted into Osgoode Hall Law School. He graduated in 1986 with an LL.B.
and became a partner in the law firm Steinberg and Olyan. Today, as President of RPI, Mr. Olyan continues to utilize his over 30 years of experience in practicing law and operating and financing commercial properties. He was named The National Republican’s Congressional Committee Business Advisory Council Businessman of the Year 2003, The Wall Street Journal’s Businessman of the Year 2003, and to The National Register for Who’s Who 2005.
Mr. Olyan is a member of ICSC, The Society of Paper Money Collectors, and the Law Society
of Upper Canada.
VP - Operations and Accounting
A valued member of the RPI team since 1995, Ms. Mead has over thirty-five years' experience
in the retail sector. She is currently in charge of RPI's accounting department and oversees
property management and lease administration. Prior to RPI, Ms. Mead's work experience
included various accounting and property management positions for a national asset management company; manager of a regional mall in North Dakota; as well as supervisor of audit control and operating expense reimbursements at the corporate office of a national women's clothing chain.
During her tenure at RPI, Ms. Mead has assisted in the purchase and sale of multiple company assets, more than three dozen refinances, and over three hundred lease renewals.
VP Acquisitions & Development
Mr. Hodge has over 25 years of experience in retail leasing, investment property sales, and shopping center development. He has completed transactions with Albertson’s, Ross Dress for Less, Home Depot, PetSmart, Burlington Stores, Burkes Outlet, Home Zone Furniture, Sears Outlet, Movie Tavern, and Alamo Drafthouse along with numerous other national, regional and local tenants.
On a daily basis, Mr. Hodge is responsible for coordinating the redevelopment of RPI owned centers, acquisitions/ dispositions of RPI owned centers, and anchor tenant leasing. During his tenure with RPI, Mr. Hodge has directed the renovation of nine RPI centers most recently overseeing a major renovation of Creekside Shopping Center located at Skillman and Abrams in Dallas.
Mr. Hodge graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington with a BA in Business Communications. He is a member of ICSC, and has held a Texas Real Estate Brokers
License since 1998.
Director of Leasing
Mr. McCord joined the RPI team in 2005 to oversee the leasing of the company’s retail portfolio. While he has experience with land transactions, office and industrial leasing, retail tenant representation, and investment sales, Cory has spent the majority of his over 20-year career representing landlords in retail shopping center leasing. He has worked with national tenants such as Academy, Kroger, Albertson’s, Tom Thumb, Alamo Drafthouse, Ross, Burlington and Big Lot’s along with numerous others. With well over 3 million square feet of completed lease transactions, Cory is considered an expert is his field. Prior to RPI, he worked for the Fort Worth-based development companies Woodmont and Trademark and the national REIT, Heritage Property Investment Trust.
Mr. McCord graduated Magna Cum Laude from Northwood University with a BBA in Management. He holds a Texas Real Estate Salesperson’s license, is a member of ICSC and a CCIM Candidate.
